The past few days have seen a Coronal Mass Ejection hit the earths atmosphere and the highly charged particles ejected from the sun, hit our magnetic field creating the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights. The Aurora also happens in the southern poles, but most of the news in recent days has focused on the Aurora Borealis. This aurora event is the biggest in 7 years and the aurora has been visible from central England.
There have been some excellent pictures of the Aurora Borealis captured in the past few days. I have found some links to sites collating these Aurora pictures so you don’t have to.

Hopefully the skies will clear on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th Jan in order to get a glimpse of the Aurora from Ireland.
